“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” - Coco Chanel

"Lindsay Lohan's Prison Look."
As most of you already know, Lindsay Lohan began her 90 day sentence yesterday for violating her probation on a previous drunk driving charge. Here's a great article from the NY Times on alternatives to the orange jumpsuit: http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/20/now-dressing-lindsay-lohans-prison-look/

Here's a great outfit entirely from Forever 21. By pairing the striped skirt with a loose white t, the skirt becomes the focal point. These lace up ankle boots give the look a little edge and are very trendy. The gold and black accessories help to complete the look. The best part about this outfit? You can get everything you see here for just $77 at Forever21.com

Nordstrom anniversary sale on now!
Nordstrom's semi-annual anniversary sale started Friday, July 16th and ends on August 1st. Now's the perfect time to load up on your fall favorites and get them at a killer price. Here are some of my favorite's from the sale:
These over the knee boots by Guess, are on sale at Nordstrom for $129.90. After the sale they go back to the regular price of $198.95. I love these boots because the over the knee style is hot this fall and they are both stylish and at $130? Right now they're a steal.
Chunky sweaters are another fall favorite and would pair perfectly with the over the knee boots. This sweater is only $58.90 at Nordstrom but will go back up to $88 after the anniversary sale.

Fashion words of wisdom
“Beyond its creativity, renewal or money, it is glamour that proves fashion's perpetual seduction: glamour and its sense of idealization onto which every hope and fantasy can be projected; glamour and its implicit promise of a life devoid of mediocrity."

Cheryl Cole's got style
Cheryl Cole is one of those people whose closets I would love to raid. She always dresses in the latest trends and seemingly does it effortlessly. Here she is in an army green jumpsuit and military inspired heels. She's keeping the accessories minimal with just a black belt, bracelet, and earrings. Adorable!

Motorcycle boots are still going strong into the fall season and here are the perfect pair by Jeffrey Campbell, sold at freepeople.com for $268. That's definitely a little pricey for most people (myself included), but when you consider how many outfits you can pair them with it seems well worth it. Here are just a couple of options that you can consider:

Trend alert
If you haven't already purchased a pair of cargo skinny jeans, you might want to consider it now. They're one of the main trends hitting the fashion scene this fall. They can be found ranging in price anywhere from $60-$300+. Express ($60) and Blank denim sold at shop.com ($78) offer the cheaper alternatives.

We're starting to see a lot more classic fits popping up in the denim world and I am absolutely obsessed with this boot cut pair of Citizens of Humanity from shopbop.com. They are the perfect fit to flatter any body type and the classic dark wash make them incredibly versatile.

Dressing down, to dress up?
As many of you already know, the latest trend to hit the runway is sweatpants. Yes that's correct...sweatpants. Here are some pictures from fashion designer Wayne's fall show. I'm not really sure how I feel about this one. If I'm going to be wearing sweatpants out in public, I really am in no mood to be wearing heels. It's still early on so there aren't many products out on store shelves yet. Personally, I doubt I will ever purchase a pair of designer sweatpants because I don't foresee this trend lasting too long. It will definitely be a very tricky look to master, I foresee a LOT of fashion disasters coming along with this.

Summer is finally upon us and it's time we start thinking about some cooler clothing options to help us beat the heat. This airy jersey dress from Asos.com is the perfect solution. The loose draping gives you an effortlessly sexy feel while helping to keep you cool. You can pair the dress with black accessories and you will be on point with current trends. This dress can be worn with strappy sandals to keep it casual during the day, or try it with a pair of caged heels and turn up the sex appeal.
