My sister and I have made the decision to collaborate on a new fashion and lifestyle blog. With two minds, we'll be able to put a lot more time into our blog and provide new and amazing posts daily. I will continue with the same style of posts as I've done here on The Fashion Dash, but it was also include my sister's input and sense of style. We balance each other out, so I think it will be a great move! So check out our new blog, Fashion Love and Rock n Roll.

H&M - Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

So my love affair with H&M is continuing to grow, as I just discovered they're releasing a collection by the costume designer of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo!! For those of you who don't know the book series that I'm talking about, I highly recommend you go out and find them because they are AWESOME. If you're interested in knowing more, check out the wikipedia for a brief description: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Girl_with_the_Dragon_Tattoo.

They are so amazing that they have created movies out of them, and while they've already done a Swedish version, America has decided to jump on the band wagon and remake the movies in English. I'm excited to see how they turn out, because the Swedish movies are amazing, so they have some tough standards to live up to.

Anyways, back to the real reason that I've decided to create a blog post about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo... they are releasing a clothing line today (Dec. 14th) at H&M, for those who can appreciate a little edgy, masculine style. The heroine of the story is basically this bad ass chick, who lives life by her own rules. She wears dark, very rugged, edgy clothing, which H&M has decided to recreate with a little more mainstream taste. Fabsugar.com has done an interview with the spokesperson for H&M, which will give you a great explanation for the focus of the collection. You can find that here: http://www.fabsugar.com/HM-Girl-Dragon-Tattoo-Collaboration-20840447.

The clothing involves quite a bit of faux leather, hoodies, destroyed denim, and dark colors. It's also very affordable for the most part (aside from a few pieces which are made with real leather.) The clothes are amazing and I can't wait to check out the stuff tomorrow, because I cannot wait any longer! I'll check back with you on what I find. Let me know what you think of the collection. Here's a preview of what they have:

H&M: $199, leather motorcycle jacket

H&M $69.95, fitted wool blend coat

H&M $9.95, worn t-shirt with printed design

Street Style Inspiration

If you're reading this blog I think it's safe to assume that like me, you can appreciate some quality fashion inspiration. While most of us don't have endless hours to spend scouring the web for that inspiration, sites like Tumblr give us a place where can find everything we need. I'm sure you're all already aware of what Tumblr is, but for those of you that aren't, it's basically a blogging platform for people to post images. The great thing about it, is that people can reblog other people's images and it creates this endless web that makes it super easy to find new blogs to check out. You can literally spend as many hours as you want on that site and never get bored or run out of things to look at.

Today I just wanted to share some of my favorite street style blogs that I've come across. So check em out and feel free to share some of your favorites!

Here are some street style pics to indulge in, in the meantime:

Versace debuts H&M collection

Today marks a special day for budget fashionistas everywhere... Versace is debuting their first-ever guest collection for H&M!!

I know, I didn't believe it either when I first read it. I didn't understand how Versace could translate into H&M and still maintain it's brand quality. Well, I do now. The clothes are nothing short of amazing, and the quality is not sacrificed in order to make a cheaper product. Now, don't let me mislead you, the collection is not cheap by H&M standards.  The dresses and jackets run anywhere from $149-$299, but you can also find some more affordable items as well. I did see a fur vest for $69, which isn't bad, it's just not a price you're usually going to see at an H&M. Some of the more basic jewelry and accessory pieces run as low as $29. But I mean, for Versace, all of that's a friggin incredible deal! Plus, the quality is MUCH better. You are going to see real leather shoes instead of the typical synthetic material used for H&M products.

Already, UK's fashion obsessed have been lining up in droves just to get a chance at some of these amazing and rare pieces. Unfortunately for those of us in the US, we can only preview the collection online because we don't have the e-commerce set available yet (hopefully though by 2012). We also won't have the collection available in stores until this Saturday, Nov. 19th. The one good thing about that, is that get the chance to see how UK is reacting and plan our trips accordingly. Not only were mobs of people already lined up early this morning, but the debut actually crashed the H&M site!

Like Missoni's collection for Target, once the items are sold out they will most likely be put up on auction sites and available at a much higher price. So, if you love fashion, you like saving money, and you're willing to bear the early morning lines on Saturday, I'd say it's definitely worth checking out. Here are a couple of my favorite pieces from the collection and you can also check out the rest of the items at HM.com/us.

Versace knee-length baby doll dress, $149

Versace, Bottoni Oro, $149

Versace, Red knee-length dress, Price Unknown

Versace, Pelle Borchie, $199

Versace, Faux Fur Vest, $69

Versace, Bustier, $129

Versane, Pink Studded Handbag, Price Unknown

The Hunt: My search for the perfect pair of lace-up booties

After drooling over the most adorable pair of lace-up booties I saw on a mannakin display a couple months ago, I have become obsessed with finding the perfect pair for my own collection. I have always been a fan of the masculine meets feminine trend and hiker boots are a perfect reflection of that style. Since I ended up finding so many amazing pairs, I thought I'd share those with you. I hope you enjoy! :)

These boots are great because of they're versatility. They're cute but basic, so you can really wear them anytime you want. The thick heel also means they have a low fall-on-your-face factor, despite being 4" tall. These would go perfectly with some scrunched up socks and a pair of skinny jeans. For $119, I'd say these are a damn good investment piece!

Heels.com: Bronx, Renna Gade, $166.49

These Bronx booties are a little bit more expensive, but they are definitely worth every penny. I love the studded cuffs!! It takes the hiker trend to a whole new, edgy level, and I like it. Unlike the versatility of the Kenneth Cole booties, there are some places you probably shouldn't wear these... like work... But they will definitely be an amazing statement piece for your nights out.

Shopbop.com: Ash, Extra High Heel Ski Booties, $220.50

Love, Love, Loooove, Love, Love these... I don't think it's humanely possible to create a sexier ski boot. It makes me want to spend a night out in the Swiss Alps. I have been stalking these shoes on Shopbop.com for well over two months and I'm waiting for them to drop to 70% off, when I can actually justify buying them. They are originally $315.00 so they're already a pretty killer deal. Again, the only downfall with these is the price compared with the usage factor! Probably not the wisest choice for a broke college student, but I don't know if I can resist the temptation to buy these delicious shoes!

Endless.com: L.A.M.B., Norine Bootie, $365.00

Sigh... One can dream, right?

Bargain hunting for FRINGE!

So lately I've been obsessed with finding a fringe bag that is both adorable and made of quality material, that won't fall apart after a weeks worth of use. I first noticed the JJ Winters bag line, which inspired me to find one of similar style.

Here's an oversized suede fringe bag by JJ Winters that runs for about $500. You can find it here at singer22.com for $473.

But for those of us who can't unload that kind of cash on a bag, I am here to try and find an affordable option! You're welcome ladies. ;)

So I scoured the shops and here are the contendors I came up with:

1. AEO Fringed Bag, $34.99 at americaneagleoutfitters.com

2. Cleobella Electra Fringe Bag, $123 at shopplanetblue.com

3. Billabong Forever Fringe Bag, $54 at swell.com

To help add a personalized touch to these bags try adding a keychain like this one from Planet Blue, only $26 at shopplanetblue.com:

~Designer Spotlight~

As August officially comes to a close, I am still not quite ready to give up my summer. Living in Seattle, summer has been almost nonexistent. I think we've had sun for about the last 4 weeks (with plenty of clouds mixed in) and its already starting to dissappear...:( So I've been planning a trip to the hot and sunny AZ in about a month and I will be giving you plenty of information on my pics for my late summer wardrobe. I do have to say, the one bonus to having late summers... are the discounts!!

I wanted to highlight an up and coming designer that I recently discovered, and have fallen in love with. Her swimsuit line Boys and Arrows, offers perfectly constructed swimwear that will look good on all body types. Not to mention the styles are gorgeous! Its hard not to feel sexy when wearing one of her swimsuits. They are definitely not cheap, but I think the saying "you get what you pay for" could not be more appropriate here! Anyways, I'll shut up and show you some pics from her lookbook:
